Pay Repentant Boko Haram Terrorists, Bandits N25,000 Monthly Stipend – Methodist Prelate Urges Buhari


Kanu-Uche said hunger and poverty made the Northerners embrace terror and banditry.

He stressed that the payment of such stipends would stop youths from engaging in terrorism.

Addressing journalists in Abuja yesterday, the cleric appealed to the Federal Government not to underestimate the influence Sheikh Ahmad Gumi in the fight against banditry.

He pointed out that Gumi could help the government develop measures in tackling banditry in the North.

Kanu-Uche said Gumi’s access to bandits in the North could be used as an advantage to beat them into submission.

The Kaduna-based Islamic scholar had severally met with the leadership of bandits in their locations.

Recently, Gumi had urged government to grant them blanket amnesty.

However, the Methodist Prelate said: “Who are those collecting ransom for bandits? If the government rather than criticising Gumi, engages him positively, he can bring a solution. You don’t dismiss him and say he is a bad man.

We Won’t Condone Tarnishing Of APC’s Image – Alao-Akala Warns Party Members

  Former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala has warned members of the party against going on radio or television to discredit the image of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Alao-Akala, who is the Chairman of the Elders Advisory Council of APC in the State, made this disclosure on Tuesday. Alao-Akala ruled Oyo State between 2007 and 2011 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The former Governor, who has since 2019 joined APC warned members not to work against the party in the State. Senate Empowers INEC To Determine Transmission Of Election Results

The senate has reconsidered the electoral act amendment bill and has empowered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to determine the best mode to transmission of election results. The electoral commission will now have to decide how to transmit election results — either electronically or manually. The upper legislative chamber also approved that all political parties must use the direct primary mode in picking candidates. The senate approved four clauses in the electoral act amendment bill.
